This is it. I can’t take it anymore. It seems like every day there’s a new story. It never ends.
There is something seriously wrong here and I’m starting to think it’s either cultural or the result of some sort of societal sickness. This is the last time I’ll update this post for awhile. It’s just too depressing.
Here’s the latest from the Mainichi Shinbun:
Schoolgirl fatally stabbed in front of home told paramedic she was attacked by man
KAKOGAWA, Hyogo — An elementary school girl fatally stabbed to death in front of her home here told a paramedic while being transported to a hospital that she had been attacked by a man, local fire department officials said.
When a paramedic asked the victim, 7-year-old Yuzuki Unose, “Who stabbed you?” she replied, “An adult,” an official of the Kakogawa Municipal Government’s Fire Department said.
When asked whether it was a man or a woman, she reportedly replied, “A man.”
A suspicious man who appeared to be in his 20s was spotted twice near the scene in the Befu district of Kakogawa before the incident that occurred at about 6 p.m. on Tuesday, investigators said.
Local police are searching for the man and are poised to conduct an autopsy on the victim’s body in a bid to determine the exact cause of her death. (Mainichi)
I’ve resurrected this post because this shit is getting ridiculous. I just want to know… what the fuck is with these losers that have to take out their frustrations on women by stabbing them? It’s a nationwide epidemic.
People being knifed on the street or in other public places at random is seemingly quite common here in Japan. Most of the time the victims’ wounds aren’t fatal, but occasionally they are. It’s usually some middle-aged guy who is quickly apprehended afterward and tells the police ‘誰でも良かった’ (‘daredemo yokatta’) which means ‘anybody would’ve been fine’. The victims are usually women. One can only guess that maybe many of these slashers have it out for women for some reason. Maybe they’re sexually repressed. Who knows? Whatever the cause, it’s definitely a disturbing trend. Here are some recent stories from the Mainichi Shinbun:
Woman remains in critical condition after apparent random stabbing in 7-Eleven
NAGANO — A woman remains in critical condition after being stabbed by a man at a convenience store here Sunday night, police said.
Investigators are grilling the man over the motives behind his crime, but he has refused to speak during questioning.
A 40-year-old housewife living in Nagano was paying for goods at the Seven-Eleven Nagano-Wakatsuki outlet in the Inada district of Nagano when a middle-aged man behind her suddenly stabbed her in the back, local police said.
The man then sprayed tear gas and ran into the store’s office, but was arrested by police officers who rushed to the scene. The man is charged with attempted murder.
The victim was quoted as telling police that she does not know the man who stabbed her. (Mainichi)

Woman knifed by attacker on street in Aichi
KARIYA, Aichi — A woman was attacked by a knife-wielding assailant on a street here on Monday morning, leaving her with cuts to one of her hands, police said.
Police said a man who appeared to be in his 50s approached the 21-year-old woman from behind on a street in Kariya, Aichi Prefecture, at about 8:20 a.m. on Monday and suddenly grabbed her left arm.
When the woman struggled, the man pulled out a knife and slashed the woman’s left hand, and then fled on foot, heading west. The woman suffered two cuts on her hand, each about 5 centimeters long.
Police said the assailant was of solid build, and was between about 160 and 165 centimeters tall. He had short, graying hair.
The woman had parked her car and was walking to her workplace nearby when she was attacked, police said. There were no other people in the area at the time of the attack, they said.
In two separate attacks in Kariya, a 21-year-old woman working as a kindergarten teacher was slashed by an assailant on July 13 and July 20. (Mainichi)

Elderly man dies after being stabbed in apparent indiscriminate attack
SOKA, Saitama — An elderly man died after being stabbed on a street here in an apparently indiscriminate attack, police said.
The assailant, who calls himself Soichi Karube, 30, was arrested for attempted murder because the victim was alive at the time. Police upgraded the charges to murder after the victim died.
The culprit admitted to the allegations during questioning. “I wanted to kill someone, anyone,” he was quoted as telling investigators. Local police are trying to identify the attacker.
At about 7:10 p.m. on Tuesday, pensioner Shozaburo Ogawa, 78, was walking home when a man approached him and suddenly stabbed him in the chest with a knife, local police said. He was rushed to a hospital where he died from loss of blood.
The culprit called police from a nearby public telephone booth saying he stabbed a person. (Mainichi)

Check out the guy’s excuse in the next story. Almost makes it OK, doesn’t it?
Drive-by slasher arrested, admits to other attacks
SAITAMA — A man arrested for slashing a high school girl on a street here has admitted his involvement in one of a few similar incidents in the area, investigators said.
Toshihiko Fukuda, 32, a construction worker from Kasukabe, Saitama Prefecture, stands accused of inflicting bodily injury.
“I did it to blow off steam after problems at work,” he was quoted as telling investigators.

I’m just another foreigner living in Japan. I live in South Tokyo just outside of the huge ex-pat community. I hope that what you find here in these pages will be useful, informative, entertaining, or some combination of the three. And, if you have anything you’d like to share, feel free. I, for one, enjoy learning new things and hope to learn something from everyone who has something they want to share here. So come on in, browse, and share.

It wouldn’t be hard to be sexually repressed in Japan now would it?
man, another freggin’ school shooting in cleveland, ohio? wtf is going on with the youth?
these stupid kids have it way easier than i had growing up…i don’t understand and why did all this start in the 90’s???
I think you know the answer to that. That’s when gansta rap and the subculture of violence associated with it became mainstream. Beyond that, it was the ‘I’m an angry boy, feel my rage!’ rock. Even the suburban white boys wanted to bust some caps in a fool’s ass. Now, it’s par for the course. You reach your limit, you go nuts, nuts, nuts. That’s why gun availablity needs to be eliminated or severely minimized.
ya, i know the rap answer, but i didn’t want to be biased and jump to that conclusion…even though i know it has to be one of the main reasons. but there has to be more reasons…no?
angry white boy rock has very little to do with this problem…imho.
we are, however, constantly bombarded with violence in movies, tv etc. i wonder if that has had any effect?
i still believe that criminals and gangs will always get guns no matter what…so in essence, banning guns won’t keep the nutzo and bad people from them…it will only hinder the honest american from having a a last line of home protection for his or her family.
the unlawful will always have weapons so why should we penalize the lawful? also, a youth who is mentally unstable will use a bomb or another weapon to kill or hurt…if not a gun.
am i making any sense or am i missing a point?
logic/human nature, dictates the strong will survive and the weak will get trampled on.
taking guns away from HONEST citizens will do absolutely no good, if you refer to my points above.
there are so many easy ways to get your hands on illegal guns, bombs, poisons…etc. banning one will do nothing.
seacrest out.
lets all live the chigliac way of life…rock music, leather jacket, rootbeer (or beer) and a smile.
granted, guns are very small and easy to hide, i know that is one of your arguments but…violence WILL find a way! a bomb would kill or injure far more people at once without giving any warning…ala iraq. guns offer a warning. and you can only shoot 1 person at atime with most guns.
like i said, bad people will always find a way to hurt or kill. i for one, will be getting a shotgun and handgun soon…as soon as i can before it becomes very hard to get one and i plan to get a permit to carry it in oregon..THUS HOPING TO PREVENT AND DETER CRIME AND KEEP MYSELF OUT OF HARMS WAY.
nobody would be foolish enough to challenge me if they saw i had a gun in my holster…unless they had one…then, oh well, that’s life but i’d rather have a way to defend myself…i’m no bruce lee!! sa=ku=wa
chigliac said: “also, a youth who is mentally unstable will use a bomb or another weapon to kill or hurt…if not a gun.”
In the US, guns are easily accessible. Not saying it’s impossible to get or make a bomb, but it’s too easy for an emotionally detached, pissed-off individual to lay hands on a gun and start mowing people down.
chigliac said: “and you can only shoot 1 person at atime with most guns.”
Look at Virginia Tech. How many people?
chigliac said: “taking guns away from HONEST citizens will do absolutely no good, if you refer to my points above.”
Lots of people who’ve gone nuts, nuts, nuts were considered HONEST people before the incidents.
chigliac said: “logic/human nature, dictates the strong will survive and the weak will get trampled on.”
You are absolutely wrong on this point. Modern society has evolved in such a way that even the weakest can survive. Welfare systems help people who are unable to survive on their own or are just too screwed up to work. Lots of people who’ve gone crazy and taken people out are people who couldn’t adapt and fit in. Apparently, they felt victimized so they decided to take a few of the ’strong’ ones out. Or are you saying that the victims of these attacks are the weak ones? I certainly hope you’re not saying that.
most guns shoot 1 bullet at a time…thus leaving some time to rush or subdue the shooter.
again, take away guns and bad peole will find another way, thus evolving.
MOST honest, good peeps don’t go nuts, the ones who do were not really good and honest. good and honest protect themselves and their families and follow the law.
and no, modern society has not evolved out of violence and never will. yes, they’re outcasts but few and far between.
what i mean by the strong will survive is, crime will happen and you WILL be their victim if you don’t counteract. you must go on offensive first…ie…showing gun….then you defend if you feel the situation warrants it.
MOST bad people would not dare attack if citizens were armed. ur a sitting duck if u think some new age babble will protect you. oh, peace peace peace..bs, the bad person doesnt know peace, he only respects violence and a gun mowing him down.
so yes, in a round bout way, the victims were the weak ones, not their fault. but all who are 18 or above should own/carry a gun…who are legally able to.
peace will come when pointing two guns at each other produces a draw.!!! soviets and usa!!! nukes= draw.
i dont buy everybody would go from good honest guy to crazy guy with a gun…do you have proof…no. research? ok, so the gun is the ultimate peacemaker/keeper.
if cops didnt have guns in this country, theyd be screwed. criminals respect guns. they usually dont want to die.
seacrest out. i am firm in my beliefs. gimmie my desert eagle!
chigliac said, “again, take away guns and bad peole will find another way, thus evolving.”
So, you’re saying that countries like England and Japan have violent crime statistics (percentagewise) that are on par with the US?
chigliac said, “MOST bad people would not dare attack if citizens were armed. ur a sitting duck if u think some new age babble will protect you. oh, peace peace peace..bs, the bad person doesnt know peace, he only respects violence and a gun mowing him down.”
Why is it that there are plenty of other modernized countries that don’t have anywhere near the amount of violent crime that the US does? I mean, I bag on Japan’s problems quite a bit, but in the end, this place is like Disnelyland everday compared to the US.
chigliac said, “i dont buy everybody would go from good honest guy to crazy guy with a gun…do you have proof…no. research?”
Where did I say ‘everybody’? I said that lots of people who’ve gone on killing sprees were considered good, law-abiding citizens before going postal. You hear of it often being said by neighbors and other acquaintances after such rampages, ‘He was a nice guy. Never made any problems for anybody before.’
Anyway, we’ll have to agree to disagree on this issue. Thanks for the comments.
well, i guess we both have good points but man, you know i live here in the wild wild west and it’s not japan or europe…so i need to protect myself because they’re people here who will rob and kill you and not think twice. if a weapon will up my chances of winning or saving my life, i’ll go with the weapon. no, i would never go crazy and go out and kill but i would only use it to protect my life or others.
until i move to a more sedate country, that’s the way it is. you know how it is over here. defending ones safety has been around since the beginning of man. as long as bad people are in society, we will need more than just police protection…they always come after the crime has been commited.
man, i just want to move to a farm, escape all the bad people.
I hear ya. Don’t let it frustrate you too much. Maybe watching the news a little less would help.
ya, well as much as i have a dislike for the news, how it likes to report all the negatives…what they report is still fact…as far as crime. man, i don’t need the news to know there is violence here, i just opn my front door and watch it all happen…can you say GHETTO NEIGHBORHOOD!
i still dream of acres of land and serenity…aaaah.
south is a delitist nazi!!! free speech!!! lol
NO POSTS FOR YOU!
Why? as far as i can see your posts are all here…
No. Actually, I had to clear a few of his out. Just too ridiculous for the topic at hand.
my friends sense of humor is sometimes elitist! lol.
I think any violent crimes against children or the elderly should carry the death penalty.
seems to me people in japan are prone to going nuts nuts nuts!
wheres the japanese hero guy when you need him?
YA-CHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!
Oh really…he seems like a kind of “blog stalker” to me…haha
no, he just has a great and a fun sense of humor that others don’t.
ya-chaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!
man, another freggin’ school shooting in cleveland, ohio? wtf is going on with the youth?
these stupid kids have it way easier than i had growing up…i don’t understand and why did all this start in the 90’s???
